Autumn’s update:

[from Cinnamon] “Her temperature and pulse have stabilized. Right pupil a little larger and sluggish. They are trying to wean her off of the vent today. Waiting and resting in Psalm 113 and 118. John Waller’s song, ‘While I’m Waiting‘ spoke to Scott and I this morning. So much waiting, asking for peace, resting in the Sovereign hands of the Lord. Trying to remember that this didn’t surprise Him. Their days were ordered by Him before they were conceived and He has rescued them thus far!”

Elijah’s update:

It’s been an absolute balm to see him resting so peacefully today. He had a good night last night. The EEG was done this morning, but I don’t have the results yet. Please, please be praying that this season of sedation would be a time where Elijah’s body can rest and really truly make progress healing –body, soul, and spirit. Pray that the Holy Spirit would surround him with the peace that his mind needs to heal. The fluid weight gain has been going down immensely the past two days, which has us all relieved on that count.”

A personal reflection on all of this . . . To echo what Cinnamon said above, this is a season of waiting. Waiting in trust and hope. A season of continually laying our request and praise before our Abba Father. Of asking that these adored young ones would be knit back together by the One who placed them in their mother’s wombs 19 years ago. Each day, there are new dangers to battle against in prayer, and new answers to thank Him for! Speaking for the Cheyenne [Elijah] side of things, this is the first day that we’ve felt so peaceful.

“Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that He have mercy upon us.” Psalm 123:2

A huge thank-you to whoever donated the piano that is on the main floor of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center; Grace and I spent some time singing to Jesus . . . hoping that somehow Elijah could hear us five floors above. As we sang ‘How deep the Father’s love for us,’ a certain part of the lyrics pierced me to the heart.

“. . .how great the pain of searing loss; the Father turned His face away, as wounds which mar the chosen One bring many sons to glory. . .”

I think I know a little more of what that means now. The last thing I wanted to share with you all is an excerpt from a note Elijah wrote to his sister, Grace, almost exactly a month before the accident: IMG_2144Follow Jesus. He is the end goal and the prize –pursue Him.”  ~Elijah, April 5th, 2015

with you in continued prayer and thanksgiving, || Haley

  1. Wow. I can’t say much more. It is so incredible and encouraging to read how God is working through all this! Keep looking up to Jesus and boldly approaching His throne of grace and laying all your burdens at His feet!
    The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.

  2. Please tell Emma Grace that God led me to 1 Kings 18:36-39 this morning. “Elijah’s Prayer”.

    Also, remind Grace that Elijah grew up to her music and I hope she has recorded some of it for him to hear. He will probably respond to the familiar. Encouraged by your report Haley. Praise and worship in CRMC will minister to many. You both are warriors for the Lord. Thank you so much for your hard work and updates!
    I praise God for Autumn’s good report. Traumatic head injuries do require lots of patience. I will continue to pray for Autumn’s healing.

  3. Praise The Lord! I, too, was comforted by “How Deep the Fathers Love For Us” this morning while rubbing Autumn’s feet with oils. The verse that spoke to me was, “…I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom. But I will boast in Jesus Christ , His death and Resurrection!” I want to be able to say that this medicine did this, or this surgery helped that…and while those things are indeed wonderful and very necessary in our situation, it was a good reminder of what I need to be boasting/placing my trust it…the hands of our Living Saviour!

    • The Lord has placed Autumn and Elijah on our hearts in an immense way. I have been praying Psalm 16:1 for them, that God would preserve, protect and put a hedge around them. I have also been praying that God would give you all wisdom. He is so faithful! Our hearts and prayers are with you. How wonderful that you do oils! You may already do this, but Frankincense is supposed to be amazing for reducing inflammation, as well as being anti-bacterial, anti-viral, etc. It is wonderful on the feet, as well as the spine. I have not experienced what you have been through, but have experienced the heart-ache of having a child’s life hang in the balance. From one mom’s heart to another I can only imagine how difficult it is to see Autumn and Elijah go through this struggle. Know we are praying for you all!

  4. During the last week of April this year, I started reading Isaiah and Jeremiah. On the day this accident happened this is how my day was before hearing about it. 7:00 am Eat breakfast, then get ready for track meet. Head to track meet. Run 1600m race and win it with a speed of 6:16, then run 800 relay and win. Eat an apple. Run 400m race and prevail with a speed of 1:10. Do running long jump finish 3rd.Have lunch. Make predictions and watch races. Go to Armadillos for an hour. Go to cornerstone thrift store and get a suit. Come home and call grandma. Skype her. Eat dinner. Watch Shark Tank. Watch Beyond the Tank. Then somewhere between these two shows I hear this alert from my sister’s iphone. The alert was: “Elijah and Autumn got in an accident. please pray.” Watch news(not the news channel that reported the accident). Take a shower. Read Bible in bed. While I was reading I came to Isaiah chapter 40 and in verses 28-31 it states:
    Have you not heard?
    The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
    He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
    Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
    but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.
    Sometimes God turns the page. He has a reason why you are studying a certain part in the Bible.
    This has never happened to me before, but God will make something good out of this accident.
    Finally don’t forget this verse in your life. This verse is on my aunt Bridget’s grave.
    Philippians 4:13
    I can do all things through christ who gives me strength.
    Thank you and may God bless the nurses, doctors, Elijah’s family, Autumn’s family and you.

  5. Confirmation Jackson-
    The Lord put that verse on my heart a year and a half ago and I used it hourly at some points after I came off vent after 6 days. I dedicated my facebook to eagles and find several a day. Yesterday the Lord impressed it on me throughout the day. I just looked and below the scripture on my site is the picture of an eagle and it says “we’ve awakened and we are everywhere”. Praise be to God.
