Autumn’s update: 

[from Cinnamon] “Her temperature and pulse have stabilized. Right pupil a little larger and sluggish. They are trying to wean her off of the vent today. Waiting and resting in Psalm 113 and 118. John Waller’s song, ‘While I’m Waiting‘ spoke to Scott and I this morning. So much waiting, asking for peace, resting in the Sovereign hands of the Lord. Trying to remember that this didn’t surprise Him. Their days were ordered by Him before they were conceived and He has rescued them thus far!”

Elijah’s update: 

It’s been an absolute balm to see him resting so peacefully today. He had a good night last night. The EEG was done this morning, but I don’t have the results yet. Please, please be praying that this season of sedation would be a time where Elijah’s body can rest and really truly make progress healing –body, soul, and spirit. Pray that the Holy Spirit would surround him with the peace that his mind needs to heal. The fluid weight gain has been going down immensely the past two days, which has us all relieved on that count.”

A personal reflection on all of this . . . To echo what Cinnamon said above, this is a season of waiting. Waiting in trust and hope. A season of continually laying our request and praise before our Abba Father. Of asking that these adored young ones would be knit back together by the One who placed them in their mother’s wombs 19 years ago. Each day, there are new dangers to battle against in prayer, and new answers to thank Him for! Speaking for the Cheyenne [Elijah] side of things, this is the first day that we’ve felt so peaceful.

“Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that He have mercy upon us.” Psalm 123:2

A huge thank-you to whoever donated the piano that is on the main floor of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center; Grace and I spent some time singing to Jesus . . . hoping that somehow Elijah could hear us five floors above. As we sang ‘How deep the Father’s love for us,’ a certain part of the lyrics pierced me to the heart.

“. . .how great the pain of searing loss; the Father turned His face away, as wounds which mar the chosen One bring many sons to glory. . .” 

I think I know a little more of what that means now. The last thing I wanted to share with you all is an excerpt from a note Elijah wrote to his sister, Grace, almost exactly a month before the accident: “Follow Jesus. He is the end goal and the prize –pursue Him.”  ~Elijah, April 5th, 2015
