5/14/15 (Elijah)

“This will be the first actual entry written by me (Brenna – blessed to be Elijah’s mom).  Haley has graciously been my mouthpiece for all of this journey as I have no computer here at the hospital and a use dumb phone (Not discounting the fact that I haven’t been able to form a cohesive thought)!  We are so grateful for Haley and all that she has done for our family.  She has been here since the first hour that Autumn and Elijah arrived at the ER and very soon after I arrived.  The Lord has given her a ministry and the strength to be here day after tiring emotional day.  Please lift her in prayer and ask the Lord to multiply her efforts for His glory.
We have no time frame for recovery – no expectations, even for the next minute, except the belief that the Lord is sovereign and we have asked for healing and are willing to wait in His strength for Him to perform it.  By His grace we are doing that – minute by minute.  To that end, I always hesitate to report on his current condition.  I have learned the drama of ICU and know that He is greater than the minute-to-minute changes that we see manifested in Elijah’s behavior/vitals.  Today they did an ultrasound on his vital organs- no results yet -and attempted to allow him to ‘drift awake’ by reducing the sedation.  He tolerated it well and opened his eyes at times -but he doesn’t track with his eyes yet.  What is he seeing?  It is hard to say.  We will see what tomorrow brings.
The Lord has provided incredible doctors for Elijah, and we are so thankful for that.  We have a brilliant born again doctor who is a believer. . . and believes in miracles. What more could we ask for?  We pray for discernment and wisdom for them and the Lord has used them as instruments of deliverance for him.  Please pray for them; they have the tough job of considering all of the details and deciding on a path forward.
That said, we also have some very special nurses.  We get attached to our nurses! – all of whom God has gifted with unique abilities to serve Elijah in just the needed way.  They also work tirelessly to keep him comfortable and read his non-verbal signs to determine what he needs.  We bless the Lord for providing them as instruments of healing in Elijah’s life.  We have tried to share with them who Elijah was before the accident in hopes that they realize who he will be when this is over.  I have shared his LowryBrosStudios youtube channel and hung pictures on the wall.
We believe, and when we are weak, the Lord brings other believers to hold up our weary arms (proverbially speaking).
By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  John 13:35
Our special body of Christ – the born again spirit filled believers that are the hands and feet of Jesus are a witness to all who see and hear.  The waiting room has been full of friends willing to minister to us from early hours (7 am) until late at night (11 or 12).  God always provides just what we need through their willingness to obey Him.  I am convinced that these people are a witness to the love of God has shed abroad in our hearts.  Doctors have commented on our amazingly large “family”, assuming it is blood related.  I smile, knowing that we are brothers and sisters in Christ – Spirit related!  I have no doubt seeds are planted!  May these seeds come to fruition.  We are so thankful for all of the outpouring of love on our behalf.  We are humbled and forever changed both by our physical friends who can be present as well as all of the texts and (as Haley reports to me, blog visits and comments).  I have not read the blog – as one so aptly put it, “you are living the blog.”
“To God be the Glory.”
We are thankful for your continued prayer, everyone. It is bearing so much fruit and encouragement, and I know that it will continue to do so in the days ahead.
He is faithful that promised…
Is there anything more glorious?
with you in prayer,
|| Haley

  7. Thank you Brenna and Haley for your update. To all the Lowry Allens know I love and pray for all of you in good times or difficult. Haley I pray you will find time to rest between all the service you are doing for our family. As Brenna’s oldest sister my heart is aching for what the family is going through. For both families, the doctors, nurses and all who are serving Elijah and Autumn God led me to His blessing.
    May the Lord bless you and keep you. the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Amen and amen God’s peace is Shalom. Nothing missing nothing broken.

  9. We are praying for Autumn and Elijah! God works for our good.

    “Jesus, keep this young couple cradled in the palm of your hand and please see to it that they both improve and live long, fruitful lives. I also pray for the doctors and nurses whom their care is under and that they may do their best to keep both Autumn and Elijah stable through their recovery. It is in your holy name we pray, Amen.

  10. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
